Peace Education Network

The Peace Education Network was founded 25.10.2007, and its operations will start in 2008. The Peace Educaton Network is a co-operative body formed by different peace education actors. The network brings together on a web site founded specifically for that purpose services and materials from various peace education actors which have so far been fragmented and perhaps difficult to find. With this new form of co-operation between different organizations,  a wider selection of training topics than before will be available. Furthermore the enhanced visibility will help make peace work more known.

The website of the network will showcase services and material from various peace education actors, as well as upcoming trainings and other events. An electronic briefcase of digital educational material will be put together for educators to download.

The Peace Education Network will arrange a Peace Education Forum once or twice a year. The Forum is an open discussion arena for all actors working in peace ecucation. Its purpose is to develop peace education activities in Finland, to decrease overlapping of operations and materials, to increase co-operation between actors and to enter current themes into discussion.

The member organizations of the Peace Education Network are Peace Union of Finland, Peace Defenders of Finland, Committee of 100 in Finland, People’s Radio Association, Artists for Peace in Finland and Technology for Life. The member organizations help to develop the network and to assemble and develop the material bank. Co-operation partners of the network will include the Service Centre for Development Co-operation KEPA’s global education network, Diaconia and Society Unit of the Church Council of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland and Finnish Youth Co-operation Allianssi. The co-operation partners will distribute information to their own actors.
